What is No. 86?

Continue the Conversation

Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay wrote the Federalist Papers to explain the structure and mechanisms of the new Constitution. More than 200 years later, these essays are still an invaluable source for anyone interested in the rule of law and our unique Constitution.

The No. 86 project continues the conversations our Founding Fathers had in the 85 Papers about the proper structure of government. The project is designed specifically for an audience of law students - providing commentary and analysis on topics relating to the law school curriculum.

The videos and podcasts of each course present multiple experts who explain legal doctrines and policy debates in a concise manner. The goal is not to answer all possible questions on a topic, but rather to encourage discussion and critical reflection among the students who engage with the content.
